Featured Artist, Marilyn Livingston
Making has always been a part of my life. Over the years I have worked in mediums ranging from pottery, stained glass, fused glass, and mosaic. Clay feels like coming home to me. The transition from soft fluidity to a solid vessel is miraculous. Clay has a memory that reveals all the steps along the way to its final form. It requires a mindful, focused approach, which is part of the joy of working in this medium. I am always experimenting with new techniques of surface design. I love adding other natural elements to enhance the organic nature of the clay.
I lived in the beautiful Redwood Country of Northern California for many years and now I live in Southern Utah among the red mountains and colorful desert. Mother Nature is and always will be my constant inspiration. The colors and images in my work are taken directly from her. I joined Zia Pottery Studio in 2022. Working alongside the other artist members gives me so much joy and inspiration.
FEATURED ARTIST, Tris Ayers
With a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of the Southwestern landscape, Tris creates unique, handcrafted ceramic pieces that draw inspiration for the region’s rich textures and colors. Tris combines traditional techniques with contemporary design, focusing on the tactile and visual qualities of clay. Each piece is an exploration of form and function, capturing the essence of the desert surroundings while embodying a personal connection to the craft. When not in the studio, Tris enjoys exploring the vast outdoors that serve as a constant source of inspiration.
