Jenny Christiansen

I have always been drawn to create but never more so than when I moved to the desert of the Southwest. The Southwest, more specifically southern Utah has always been a favorite place of mine. While growing up in California, my mom would bring my brothers and me to southern Utah each year for adventures in Zion National Park. I remember loving being enveloped in the great canyon walls on those trips. Then years later while attending college in Bozeman at Montana State University, I’d escape to the desert of southern Utah at any opportunity.

In 2014 I came to live in a small town outside of Zion National Park. Once living in southern Utah I began to see for the first time not just the great sandstone cliffs but the plants that surrounded them. It was the variety of colors and shapes, the way the plants grew in the most unlikely spots that captured me. Then once I saw the gorgeous full blossoms that sprung from the plants, seemingly out of nowhere, I was sold! My creativity was sparked and I have been inspired to make jewelry and paintings that reflect their beauty ever since. I hope is that wearing or viewing my work gives you or enhances your appreciation for southern Utah; it’s great sandstone cliffs, it’s variety of desert plants and the beautiful wildflowers.

Matt Petcol

Matt Petcol is a local artist residing in Southern Utah where he draws inspiration from the surrounding area’s stunning landscape. The Post-Impressionist movement, especially the works of Cezanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh, have influenced Matt’s artistic work.

Matt was born in the white mountains of Arizona and moved to Southern Utah when he was ten years old. As a young man, Matt enjoyed exploring the outdoors, hiking and going on adventures. Matt was always creating and loved to draw and paint even from a young age. He knew since high school that his greatest aspiration was to be a professional artist and has spent years working to attain his goal.

Matt primarily enjoys working in oil but also loves to use pastels and watercolor. He loves the freedom of creating art and never knows how one ibrant color and rich depthof his pieces will turn out. Currently Matt has been inspired by exploring the National Parks in Utah, Nevada, Arizona and California.

Alongside his oil paintings, Matt has also begun to create landscapes using watercolor, soft pastels and black ink. By layering watercolor, pastels and ink, he is able to create interesting works of vibrant color and rich depth.

Matt currently resides in St. George where he lives with his two kids and three cats.

LAURETTE O’NEILL

Laurette O’Neil creates sculptures that you can wear. Clear lines and a seeming simplicity define her jewelry. But in reality, her pieces are anything but simple. They’re a collaboration of minds, cultures and eras that have defined Laurette’s artistry over the past three decades.

The American Southwest gave her the ability to handle gems and minerals. Alaska showed her how to work with fossil an explore the native arts. Berlin taught her how to handle silver and 18-carat gold. Stockholm gave her a lesson in titanium. Poland introduced her to the necessities of good design. “My main objective is to keep the design simple and clean” she says. “My work draws people in because if its pure and idyllic spirit.”
