Judith & Deborah

Deborah and Judith Hutcheson showcase their work together at Hutch Studio in the Kayenta Art Village, Ivins, Utah. Hutch Studio is a collaboration of two artistic sisters. It has been a long-time dream of theirs to showcase their work together.

This is a working studio where you will find them creating their original art and watch the artists in action. The studio has an authentic vibe with pieces that reflect a more modern sensibility.

Deborah Hutcheson

Deborah is a second-generation metalsmith with a love of beautifully made jewelry. “My first jewelry memory is my father creating the most lovely pieces, especially for my mom. He would open up drawers filled with gold, silver, sparkly gemstones and diamonds and I knew I wanted to do what he did.”

Deborah has worked at the bench for over 30 years, having run a very successful independent jewelry store on the East coast. She decided to pack everything up and move west, settling in Ivins, Utah. She handcrafts her exquisite collection in a lovely studio surrounded by the gorgeous desert and abundant sunshine. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, fashion forward, and artfully crafted. She uses recycled metals, conflict free gemstones and found objects.

Judith Hutcheson

Judith has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Kutztown University, Pennsylvania and, after a long corporate career in the San Francisco Bay Area, has moved to southern Utah. Here she is inspired by the amazing desert landscape, and has returned to painting and embracing the Ivins motto of “living artfully.”

Judith volunteers caring for a herd of about 20 American wild horses. The wildlife portraits are her view of the inner essence of her friends at the corrals and all the animals that live nearby. The landscapes are grand sweeping views of the environment she sees. “I have been fortunate to visit many amazing places, and I take reference photos everywhere I go. For the landscapes I’ve learned to create large views in the mind from small format oil painting. I have also spent much time on portrait and still life painting.”
